Some Thoughts on Our Country

The fortunes of a nation do not rise or fall with the political actions of one man, president or otherwise.  The Bible tells us that righteousness exalts a nation, and that wickedness is shameful to any people.  Americans have abused and misused three centuries of God-given prosperity.  The mercy of His abundance is matched only by the mercy of His patience.  Now our country is surely facing the cold winds of the long-deserved reckoning.  Whatever evil a misguided politician can bring upon us is a drop in the ocean to the moral damage caused by the national behavior.  In a mere forty years we have come to the point of raising a generation that is thoughtlessly throwing away the fabric of society—God’s institution of marriage!  How did we come to such a state?  It’s too late for the nation to cry “God, help us!”  But in His never-failing mercy God will protect His own.
