The Difference in Love

There is a difference between the love God has for His people, and the love they have for Him.  God's love is one of bounty, ours is a love of duty.  God is completely free from misery and happy in Himself.  He does not need us.  His love for us is a love that freely gives and pours out upon us blessing after blessing.  In contrast, we are dependent upon Him for everything.  Our love responds to God by looking to Him for all that we need and doing what He requires in willing and cheerful service.
